Apply Interior Design Principles when Decorating Your Northern Virginia Deck

Your Northern Virginia deck extends your living space, adds value to your home, and acts as a wonderful spot to entertain friends and enjoy the outdoors. When deciding how to decorate and furnish your deck, you should govern furniture placement and selection by the same attention to detail as you apply to indoor rooms.

When decorating your deck, the golden rule to give each activity its own space within the design. Will you be entertaining on your deck? Furnish it with a large table and many chairs. Would you also like to designate a cozy space for intimate conversation? Situate a few chairs in one section of the deck away from the other entertaining areas. For even more privacy, install a garden trellis, screens, or even all-weather drapes and blinds. To enjoy your deck in all sorts of weather, including hot sun and rainy drizzle, add a retractable awning or an umbrella.
