Easy Ways to Make Your Deck a Private, Cozy Space

Many Northern Virginia townhomes and condos feature decks that are left open to the neighboring properties or even the rest of the neighborhood. Follow these simple steps and ideas to create a greater sense of privacy for your Northern Virginia deck and make it a true extension of your living space.

• Plant evergreen trees around your deck perimeter, or even place potted evergreen trees around the area. Evergreens come in a wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes, can block any view with a lush backdrop, and even help filter noise.
• Install privacy screens around the perimeter of your deck. You can even personalize these screens with custom paint or decoration. Better yet, add vines to create an extra privacy element as it climbs up the screen.
